About Alex

Alex Lock is a committed Liberal Democrat and a vocal local advocate for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Armed with a Master’s in Policy, Alex combines a rigorous understanding of public policy with a grassroots approach to championing inclusive education and support services as well as other areas of policy. Their advocacy is grounded in the conviction that every child deserves tailored resources and community-driven solutions that unlock their full potential.

Over more than a decade in Software and IT, Alex has steered end-to-end delivery of complex projects across public sector bodies and private enterprises. Skilled in Agile methodologies, stakeholder engagement, and digital strategy, they’ve launched platforms and systems to both companies large and small. I hope to translate that into delivering real postivie change to people in Corby and beyond.

In their role as a local party executive member, Alex pushes for transparency, social justice, and evidence-based policymaking. He wishes nothing more than to create a positive plan for Corby to achieve a fair deal for all.

The Positive Plan for Corby

Alex Lock is the key author behind The Positive Plan for Corby that seeks to make Corby the powerhouse of North Northamptonshire with a view to expand upon previous campaigns like the Pen Green Lakes Campaign and the northbound Corby Rail services to make Corby a gateway to the East Midlands. From a second SEND school to help alleviate pressure on Red Kite School and stop using expensive Independent Schools to a second health centre based in Weldon, this plan details how we grow with the greater Corby area to become the place to live in Northamptonshire.

It includes:

  1. A vision for Greater Corby
  2. Governance of Infrastructure through a Joint Infrastructure Forum
  3. The Homes we need, where we need them
  4. Ensuring health services available in Corby
  5. Education and SEND including a second SEND school
  6. Road improvements such as the Northern Orbital Road
  7. A plan to have a town wide cycling and walking plan to enable active travel
  8. Rail plans including a second platform and revitalising the Welland Valley Rail services
  9. Improvement to our Green and Blue Infrastructure including making Pen Green Lakes a country park
  10. Improving quality of life by supporting families and focusing on climate change.
  11. Building on Corby Heritage and committing to the arts via an annual arts festival
  12. Campaign for community safety including knife bins and the amnesty as well as supporting the call for a police station in Corby
