Our Climate Policy
Action to take the Climate Emergency seriously!
The North Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats will tackle the climate emergency head-on by making active travel the default for families—funding safe walking and cycling routes to halve the school run, fitting solar panels and other microgeneration on every council building, and driving the council to meet its net-zero carbon targets. Alongside upgrading insulation and low-carbon heating in all council-owned homes, we will plant thousands of new street trees, expand rewilding projects on public land, and create greener corridors that lock in carbon, boost biodiversity, and build healthier, more resilient communities.
Our actions to take the climate emergency seriously:
1) Reduce the School Run by encouraging and supporting more walking and cycling to school
2) Install Microgeneration (most likely solar panels) in/on council owned buildings
3) Deliver the council's net zero targets
4) Find more opportunities to plant trees
5) Increase rewilding to increase biodiversity
6) Improve energy efficiency in all council owned homes
