Our Policies for Wellbeing and Quality of Life

Improving quality of life and wellbeing for all

The North Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats are committed to improving the wellbeing of all residents by championing inclusive, community-driven services that meet people where they are. Their priorities include strengthening youth support through expanded detached youth work, enhancing SEND provision, and ensuring every secondary school pupil has access to mental health practitioners. They will protect vital community assets like libraries, bolster educational retention in secondary and further education, and improve financial resilience through a stronger Council Tax Support safety net and Discretionary Fund. By encouraging the Children’s Trust to recruit more foster and adoptive carers locally, they aim to keep care provision within the county.

The North Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats also advocate for devolving powers and budgets to Parish and Town Councils, improving public consultation, and targeting public health spending where it delivers the greatest impact. They will work with partners to expand adult learning, restore essential bus services in underserved areas, and support the growth of social enterprises that directly enhance local wellbeing. Where services fall outside the council’s remit, they will lead and influence to ensure better provision for all.
