Getting the water flowing in Oakley

A picture of flooding land at Vara Close

Since the elections in May, the local Lib Dems have been out in Oakley and elsewhere in Corby tackling some of the problems local residents have had with water.

On Lapland Walk water has been leaking out of faulty pipework for many months, not just troubling local residents but also wasting water in one of our driest years on records. After much chasing, Anglia Water has now repaired this leak and it seems to have ceased - but we will keep monitoring it. If you see a leak near you and want it dealt with, please do get in touch.

It isn't just leaks though that are the cause of too much water in Oakley. During heavy rains there has been flooding around Vara Close, and the drains in nearby Nansen Walk have also been a problem. Newly elected councillors Chris and Ceilidh are on the case and are fighting to get North Northamptonshire Council to address the issue via their contractor Keir.

Speaking of maintenance and repair, local resident and campaigner Alex Lock has been working with your councillors to tackle flooding at Stamford Walk in Kingswood. Poor maintenance of the gullies has meant that the drains have become blocked - and after much fighting, the council have now acknowledged this. So far there isn't a solution, but Alex will keep on fighting!
